I think it missed us

Well we got rained on pretty good, but no lightning or thunder, winds weren't too bad. The lightning path forecast I have seen shows that it will miss Charleston. So our first hurricane threat was more bark than bite.

Ernesto

Well hello all,

I started my day early today at 0545, I basically just sat around in the mail room cleaning, and at the end of my day around 1000 unloading the UPS truck. For the most part while I was at work it did not rain at all, but as I was walking to my car to leave it started too and it has been raining for about 6 straight hours. I have been ordered to stay indoors, which I am fine with, but Lisa has her bunko tonight and still wants to go. It's still too early to tell what Ernesto is going to do tonight so her plans are in limbo.

Update on the Storm:

As of 1400 I believe the winds were clocked at 70mph which is just about 4 mph shy of Hurricane status, so it should either be a severe Tropical Storm or weak Hurricane when it makes land fall. The land fall is still slated to be between Charleston and Myrtle Beach, which is about 150 - 300 miles I believe. So we may not be hit that bad. I'll be sure to post any pictures if there is any damage around our house.

Our very first Tropical Storm!!!

Hi all,

Well Lisa and I are about to experience something new, and that is Ernesto. Basically it started out as a hurricane, but since it hit land fall in Florida it has died down quite a bit. I personally feel that it will not be much worse than a bad thunderstorm up there in Michigan, but ya never know. Tomorrow Lisa has work off, and I have to work early at 0545 till about 1000 at which point I will be required to stay in my house, for an undetermined amount of time. Today a lot of students had to tie tables and garbage cans down, so they do not become projectiles. Also they were lugging around sand bags all day. So if you are reading this do not worry, we should be ok. You can try calling if you want to talk or check back for updates tomorrow, as long as we still have power.

Here are some pictures from the Aqurium! The shark is my favorite!

This Weekend.

Well Lisa and I had a very nice weekend together. For the first time in about 3 or 4 weeks we both had Saturday and Sunday off. I started my Saturday a little earlier than she did. I helped set up for the annual NNPTC Student/Staff picnic, she slept in until it actually started around 1100.

They had free food, karaoke, moon jump, sumo suits, and joust (ala American Gladiators, ya know with the big Q-tip looking things). Well I am very proud to announce that I am the undisputed champion of both the Joust and Sumo Wrestling of our family. Lisa was a very good sport about the whole thing and the crowd got a good laugh out of our friendly competition. Maybe she will have better luck next year.

On Sunday we rode our bikes to the free on base movies, where we saw RV starring Robin Williams. I have to say that was the fullest I have ever seen that theatre, nearly every seat was full. I give the movie 3.5 snaps on a 4.0 scale. For the most part it was a very clean movie so ok for the kiddies, and enough jokes to keep the adults laughing as well. We then rode over to the Mini-Nex and rented a movie Proof with Anthony Hopkins and Gwyneth Paltrow. It was ok, I wouldn't recommend it though, kinda dry and predictable, so 2.0 snaps.

Other than that our weekend was kinda chill, and today we both started the hustle bustle of everyday life for another week.

Hope each and everyone of you are doing well.

Myrtle Beach pics part deux

Sorry for the delay:

Here are two guys in the back of a pickup truck. You don't see that very often in Michigan.

here is a picture of all the sea shells that Lisa and I found on the beach. She went crazy for these guys, very funny she'd find some and have me hold them and then she'd find one she liked better and then throw the other ones back on the beach.

And this little guy is Tiger. He hung out by our room. He looked like he was mostly healthy but lead a tough life. Let me tell you it was very hard for me not to take him home with us. I really felt that I should "Save" this cat. But the logistics of the move and the risk of this cat having diseases and infecting Tony was not worth it. So even though it was hard on both of us we wished him fairly well.

Well again we had fun on our vacation, and look forward to many other mini vacations, in the coming years, all over the world. How exciting.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Hi guys...Sorry it has taken me so long to post...anyway...last Thursday Jason took me to the Aquarium in Charleston. ...It was so cool! They had this 'Ocean Tank' that was just huge...it was amazing, it had these huge fish in it and there were sharks in it too! We walked around to the different places. It was really cool seeing all types of species. We saw sea turtles, regular turtles, an owl, an eagle, frogs, 2 parrots, and snakes. It was just so cool, I would really like to go again. I will post pics once I figure out how. take care till we talk again...Lisa

I love Pearls!

Hey Guys! About a month ago I went to this little party that a girl from Bunko was hosting. It was called 'Vantel Pearls in the Oyster'. I went with the disappointment of knowing I couldn't buy anything cause Jay said "no". So the demonstrator said that every hostess who books a party gets a free gift!, for those of you who don't know me...my favorite price is free!! Anyway, I my booked my own party and had it yesterday. It was pretty fun! The oysters are shipped all the way from Japan and the South Pacific. You get to pick your own fresh water or salt water oyster and it is opened right in front of you! You can either have the demonstrator find the pearl or you can do it yourself. I chose to look for my own, it was really cool! The pearl is cleaned and you are given the value of it right there. The value is based on its size, shape, luster, and color. The pearls come in all sorts of colors and shades. My favorite ones are PINK! I actually ended up getting a free ring that I picked out from the catalog and the pearl that I picked for that ring was pink, it is really cute! And because I had over a certain amount in sales that night, I received a necklace for just $10, I got to pick another pearl for that too! All in all my guests and I had a great time! I just wish I could do that for a living, that would be such a fun job, I think so anyway. The demonstrator said I would be a great Vantel Pearls Demonstrator! So who knows what will happen! talk to you all later...Bye, Lisa
