Happy Fat Tuesday!

Hey guys, since today is Fat Tuesday I've been eating a bunch of junk that I won't be able to eat for a while. I've decided to give up pop, or as they call it down south:Soda, fast food and junk food like chips, cookies, etc. So now I'm not too sure on what to eat because my whole diet consists of pop, fast food and junk food. I guess I'm gonna be one of those "healthy eaters" for a little while. Wish me good luck cause I think I'll need it! oh, and before I forget, I'm thinking about becoming a psychologist and specializing in sleep disorders. I came to that conclusion by thinking of something that I am very very good at, which is sleeping. I would really like to know why some people can't sleep, it just boggles my mind because I can sleep anywhere at anytime. I just love to sleep! If I don't get enough sleep I'm very grouchy(Jason can vouch for that one)! I also hate waking up before 6 am(Jason can vouch for this too). Anyway, just thought I'd let you guys know whats up! good night....Lisa

How You Doin'?

Hey guys, what's up?! There is nothing new going on over here except for some pretty nice weather! I think it was in the 70 degree range these past couple days, so that has been nice. Work is going well for me, so that is always a plus! I just wish our damn house would sell already, it's kinda pissin' me off. I guess we could always rent it out but that would be a pain in the you know what. Oh well...there is no sense in being frustrated over things you cant control. Well, I gotta run! talk to you later ~ Lisa

Good Night

Well we had a nice quiet Saturday together, watched a couple of movies, did a little shopping, and I cooked roast beef. I've gotten a lot better at roasting a beef let me tell you, the first couple of times I tried, I didn't cook it long enough, and well it tasted ok, but it was kinda chewy. So the last two times I let it cook an hour or two longer and well it tastes good and basically falls apart when you stick a fork in it so I guess I know what I am doing now.

Jason's boot camp story #1.

Well I guess the logical story would be my first experience as an active duty member of the Navy. Leading up to the day that I was shipping out I was very stressed, worried about Lisa the house, money etc... so needles to say I wasn't getting very much sleep, waking up 3 or 4 times a night, stomach aches, and such. My day started early I think leaving the house between like 0400 and 0500 after not much sleep at all, and then just more waiting at MEPS (where all the processing takes place) going through the same tests that I had already taken, including a drug test that I had difficulties taking my first try (boy they get upset if you think you are ready and in fact you are not), well needless to say I went on to pass with flying colors seeing how I don't do that sort of thing. Well anyway to make a long story short Lisa and Gina (my mother in law) came and watched my swearing in ceremony and then had lunch and we said our goodbyes, which was tough as you can imagine. So now they bus us to Metro and we fly to O'Hara, the first thing we do is eat, because besides a tiny sandwich I had at MEPS I really hadn't eaten or drank much of anything for a good two days because I was worried about weighing too much and not being able to ship, so of course now that I think I am in the clear I pig out, lasagna, pizza, french fries, a bunch of water, I was stuffed.

On to reporting, we as a group of about 5 or 6 of us report at the DSO office I think, where I met a Petty Officer, and being the friendly guy that I am struck up a conversation where I asked "So are all of you guys Drill Sargents?" He said yes. So there I went thinking Petty Officers were Drill Sargents. Well let's just say that they way I found out that a Petty Officer wasn't a Drill Sargent wasn't very fun. We were standing in line waiting to get on a bus to go from the airport to Boot Camp and this big mean looking Petty Officer came in yelling, "Let's move it!!!!!" do this and do that and blah blah blah. And I was first in line (which was my first mistake), and my second was when he asked me "Do you understand me recruit?" and I responded "Yes Drill Sargent." I proceeded to get yelled at for a good 30 - 60 secs which wouldn't seem like a long time, but it felt like ages. "How can you be so stupid not to even know the ranks of your own service?!?!?" I'm sure there were some expletives thrown in for good measure. Just like the movies, mere inches away from my face. I just stood there like an idiot and said nothing, which was the only thing I could do.

After that made me feel so stupid, it was on to boot camp, striping down naked and packing everything I had on me in a box and sending it home, and putting on boot camp issued clothing, another drug test, that I was ready for, and I thought the guy at MEPS was mean, the Chief at boot camp made that guy look like a saint. He almost had a couple of guys in tears because they couldn't go, with probably 20 other guys standing in the head just waiting for 1 or 2 guys to go. Then another bad thing happened that night, I had to weigh in again (which I didn't know about) Well lets just say I put on about 13 lbs in the course of the day and was basically labeled a fat kid for 2 months because I was over weight. All this and I didn't get to sleep until the next night I think I was up for like 41 or 42 hours in a row.

Well hopefully you guys enjoyed that, and I'll probably share some more stories later on.

Now for my much anticipated review of Krystal:

The closest White Castle that I know of is in Ohio, so that means I need to find a substitute. Well after talking about the Castle in boot camp and down here in the SC, I've learned of this place called Krystal which was supposed to be "Just like white castle". Well my friends I am here today to tell you that it is not. Yes their burgers are the same size, and yes I can eat many (10 that is) and yes Lisa doesn't like it, but it just isn't the same. First their burgers have no holes, second the buns weren't steamed. Onions don't taste the same, they also have the audacity to offer regular sized hamburgers on their menu. Well all in all they weren't that bad, but they did make me miss the Castle that much more. I remember having sporadic Castle runs with my good buddies at EDS. I miss you guys. But here are some pictures of our trip to Georgia.

Grrrrrrrrr!!!! I've tried 3 times to upload pics, and nothing. I'm going to bed. I'll try again tomorrow.

Saturday

Hi all,

Sorry it's been a while, since my last post, just been busy with school, so far this week I've put in 16 + hours studying and I still have probably 5 - 10 more hours to put in. Well here is an update on how class is going: Currently I'm 6 / 22 (we had one guy added) with two subjects completed. We started our third and final subject Monday, which seems to be at a faster pace then the others, my first test is on Wednesday, I have a feeling that I will do well, I understand the material pretty well so far. Today we are running to the mall to buy a camera bag for our Canon sd400, and probably over the Home Depot to get some picture hangers and a pole for Lisa's closet. When we get back I'll try and post some pictures of the house and our Georgia trip.

and now to answer some questions:

Chris H asked why I haven't posted in a while and speculated that it may be due to the fact I was beating up some of the ladies in my class. And to that I say erroneous, that is a rumor that has absolutely no substance. I've just been busy studying.

And Tim and Stephanie M (founders of the JasonLisaandTony blog fan club) want to know: if I will be starring in the upcoming sequel to Dodge ball?!

and well the answer to that is that I have retired from competitive dodge ball due to a shoulder injury sustained while giving 110% effort during the most recent dodge ball season here at NNPTC. There comes a point in every persons dodge ball career where they have to realize that they are not as young as they used to be and they need to step aside and let the up and coming stars of dodge ball develop into the great players they can be.

Coming up at a later post on the JL&T blog will be my review of Krystal, and a new series of Boot Camp stories, so stay tuned.

Good night!

hi guys, I'm gonna make this short and sweet: I had a good day and so did Jay. In April there is this thing called a Submarine Ball that Jason and I are attending. It is supposed to be really nice, I'm looking forward to it! I get to buy a new dress, get my hair done, and a Mani and Pedi too! I love getting dressed up, it is so much fun. If you guys have any suggestions om where to find a nice formal dress let me know, I would appreciate it. Down here the mall is different than the ones back home, the malls back home have more stores that sell dresses for various occasions; so I'm not sure if I'm gonna have a hard time finding a dress or not. Anyway, I think I might take Tony in to get his back claws trimmed and maybe they can groom him too...he never ever lets me brush him so he just sheds a lot and it get on our nerves, especially when Jay needs to wear his working blues, we have to use the lint roller a lot for those. Oh yeah, I'm going to another Bunko game tomorrow, wish me luck! Hopefully I'll at least win 5 bucks like I did last time! Goodnight guys, Lisa

I'm Sick!!!!!!

As you can probably tell...I'm not feeling well. I have a sore throat, runny nose, & a headache! The girls at work said that I might have sinus'. They said a lot of people who move here from other states end up getting sinus infections from the change of weather and stuff. I'm like "I've always been healthy so how do I know what having sinus' feel like." Whatever, I'll get over it. So my older sis might be coming down in the spring/summer:)! Woo Hoo somebody from my family might come to see me!!! That makes me :)! I wish they would all come at once, so we could all be together at the same time, but it is hard for my parents cause they both need to work and my younger siblings are involved in sports and stuff. I wish our nieces would come down, I miss those little girls so much:)! Oh I gotta go it's almost time for me to pick up Jay from school! bye guys...Luv Lisa

We're Back!

Hey guys, we went to Georgia for a couple days, it was pretty cool. We met some nice people and some crazy ones too! It all started a couple weeks ago when Jay and his buddies were walking or something. His friend, Chaples, saw this pond and wondered if there were fish in it. Jason, being the kind of guy he is, offered to drive him back home to get his fishing gear. We decided to make it into a little road trip and invited another one of their buddies. We ended up meeting Chapels' family, they were nice people. We also met Chaples' neighbors who live down the road from his family, how can I put this nicely...... one person that we met has lost her marbles and doesn't know where to find them! On our way back home today we stopped at this place called Krystal, which is kind-of like a White Castle, can you guess who's idea it was?! Jason actually took pics of the place, he was so excited! I just thought he was crazy! All in all, everyone had a nice time and it was nice to get away for a bit. So besides all that, on Saturday I went rock climbing, I got up pretty far, it was so cool. When my family comes down my younger sister and brother will get a kick out of rock climbing. They both are very athletic and probably would have lots of fun! Well guys that's it for tonight! lisa

Three Day Weekend.

Hi all,

Well last night I worked from about 0500 - 2045 so for almost 16 hours. It started with a nice game of 0500 dodge ball on the tennis courts, that by the way have no lights, that lasted all of about 30 minutes, no one could see the ball. After that it was a full day of school, well not really we had two hours of lecture, and the rest was basically sittin' around and bs'n. Then we had a pizza party to acknowledge our half way point. That's right almost half way through on March 31st 2006 I'll be a MM3 (petty officer). We also watched a movie from the history channel about submarines, it was ok, but I basically already knew most of what it covered. After class I started my Watch Qualifications, basically talk with other students that are in the pipeline that have already graduated A School about security. Once you show you have knowledge about a certain security area, they sign your "Qual Card". The whole class has 12 hours required this weekend, which sucks because most classes have 3 weekends to get 12 hours in. So last night I spent 6 hours after class going over this stuff. Came home had dinner then went to bed as I was tired. Then this morning up at 0500 to get ready for duty (Cleaning, etc...) after about 15 minutes of duty we were done so I put in the rest of my hours on watch quals.

Well our plans tomorrow are to drive to Georgia to visit a shipmates family. Lisa and I are excited to kinda get away for a day, and it will be cool that this is the first family of a ship mate I am meeting. We promise to take lots of pictures and we will post them by Monday Hopefully. Well I will talk to you later have a nice weekend.

Funny stories!

Hey guys, I have a funny story.... I was in the kitchen cleaning up(mind you that Jason is on duty right now, so it's just me and Tony in the house). A month ago Jason and I ordered some girl-scout cookies from this one girl who was going door to door in our neighborhood, she came to the side door (which has a window in it without any drapes) and rang the doorbell and I turned my head toward the door and all I saw was this face staring at me! I wasn't expecting anyone so it really scared me when I saw her. I had to stop and really look at her and finally realized that she was who she was. If you know me well, you would know that my first instinct was to run in the bathroom and grab a can of hairspray....L.O.L! That brings me to another funny story. When I was about 18 yrs old, I came home from hanging out with my friends and I unlocked the back door and went inside the house, of course I was on my cell phone and oblivious to everything else...I walked through the kitchen and noticed that the front door was open. Being the teenager that I was, I thought I was invincible and that the front door being wide open wasn't a big deal. I just casually mentioned it to my friend that was on the line, she stared to flip out telling me to "Get out of the house"!, I responded by saying " I just have to do some laundry, I'll be out in a minute" Well after a little while, all her fears started to rub off on me and I got really scared so I ran in the bathroom, locked the door and grabbed a can of hair spray! I told my friend that "I'll be OK...I have hair spray"! I finally made it out of the house and called the police. Shortly after that, my friend and her mom showed up, then the police and then my family. It turned out that when my family left the house earlier that night they shut the door so hard that the force just made it bounced back open. Sometimes I still get teased about the hairspray thing! Hope this made you laugh, I know my family will get a kick out of hearing this story again.

Happy Valentine's Day

Hello again,

Well I'll have to keep this one kinda short because it is already 2200 and I am going to do my best to get up at 0430 tomorrow, so I can get to school early and get a good 1 1/2 hours of study in. Today kinda sucked for being a Valentine's day, because I had duty (basically clean a couple of buildings twice during the day) I couldn't leave base (probably to get me used to duty once I get to the fleet which is more serious than just cleaning), and I had to put in extra hours at school to study for a big exam on Thursday, so needless to say I was not able to spend time with my oh so understanding wife. Well I do have some good news though...

In High School I had this friend Meri R., and she was from St. Louis, Mo. well she had these little antidotes about St. Louis and well I always made fun of her about them, changing them around and such, well I thought it was the funniest thing in the world because she would get all mad. Well anyway today in class my instructor started talking about St Louis, and well I busted out with my Meri R's St Louis Fun Facts, both #1 and #2. Here they are for you that are interested: #1 The St. Louis Arch is as tall as it is wide, and #2 St. Louis has the most Stop Signs per capita than any other city.

Well now you can go to bed and say you learned something today.

Good Evening!

Hey guys...Jason and I went for a walk today by the horses I was telling you about. We took some pics:). Those horses were so cool to watch, there had to have been at least 6 horses that we saw. They seemed to enjoy being out and just roaming around. I think I really want to take riding lessons...that would be cool. Besides all that we went grocery shopping at the commissary here on base and that's about it. Jay should be home soon to watch the hockey game~Redwings vs. Avalanche. Boy...we miss watching hockey with my dad, he would get so into the game just yell and scream at the T.V. I don't know what I enjoyed more, actually watching a game with him or just watching him get mad. Well dad if you are reading this...we miss you old man! bye for now...Lisa

February 11th, 06

Hey guys, Sup?! Jason and I originally planned to go for a walk down by these stables to look at the horses and to see if they gave riding lessons, but it ended up raining. I've been wanting to take horse riding lessons to get over my fear of horses. It all started when I was in 4th grade... my family and I went to a water park and my siblings and I took a ride on horses that are in those carousels, anyway the horse that I was on got startled for some reason and started kicking it's back legs, I was a young kid at the time so it scared the hell out of me. So here I am, almost 23 years old and I'm still scared of horses..at least I'm trying to get over my fear instead of just letting it scare me. Anyway, instead of going on the walk like we planned, we ended up going to a late lunch at The Olive Garden, or as my dad calls it...The Oliver Garden. Boy I sure do miss that old guy!(just kidding dad, you're not that old:)) Jason actually has a couple of his buddies from school over right now, and I kinda need to get going, I have some things to do around here...goodnight everyone! talk to you soon:)

Hello All.

Well here is my dodge ball story from the other day:

We were all playing dodge ball as a class basically like 20 on 20 dodge ball on 1 tennis court so we were jammed in there pretty good. Well being the competitor that I am, I'm going all out, throwing the ball as hard as I can. Well it was down to like maybe 5 or 6 guys on my team and 2 people on the other team 1 guy 1 girl. Well I thought enough was enough, so I grabbed a ball, ran at full speed from the back of the court, wound up and threw the ball as hard as I could at the girl. Well the ball was going for her straight on to probably right around the shoulders, well she ducked into the ball, it hit her in the side of the head, her glasses went flying and she went down in tears, well I just felt like the biggest jerk in all of the land, so I ran over to see if she was ok, because after that display the game was over she got up and shook it off. She was really cool about it though, saying that she ducked into the ball and wasn't mad so that was good, and as a gesture of good sportsmanship I bought her a 12 pack of her favorite pop. Well needless to say that from now on I will cool it when it comes to sports here in the Navy. Now by the way my whole class calls me the lady killer, and to update the score Jason - 2 and Ladies of class 0612B - 0 (Remember I ran one over while playing basketball a couple of weeks ago that also resulted in the end of that game).

Well on a more positive note, during my time in DEP (Delayed Entry Program) before joining the navy I had to write a paper on why I joined the Navy and I thought I would share it with you, so I hope you enjoy and would appreciate any feedback.

Although there has not been a draft in my lifetime, it was still a widely discussed topic growing up. Some people were adamant about being dodgers; I on the other hand never quite knew how I would react. I was never a ‘jump how high’ guy, I always questioned authority, and I really didn’t think that I was cut out for the armed forces. That all changed on September 11th, how could some maniac, for no reason, kill thousands of innocent people. I finally understood. I called a talk radio show when the draft was the conversation, and proudly stated that I would gladly go to Afghanistan if I were drafted. I was asked why I didn’t enlist. It was because I held a promising job in the IT field for a Fortune 500 company. I worked with friends who were my age, and we had potential to become the future of the company. Things were looking good, I had everything I needed at this stage of my life; I was young, had a house, about to get engaged, plenty of room for career growth.

After the down turn in the economy, and a SEC investigation into accounting inaccuracies by my company, there were layoffs and the job outlook was bleak. 2 years later and I dreaded going to work, feeling my life was wasting away, and I had nothing more to learn. I have a poster that says “When your child asks you what you did at work today, are you proud of your answer?” My answer is no, I am not proud. I can bring so much more to the table. I need a challenge, to feel that I am making contributions. I don’t want to wait around, trying to find something that may be worth while, just to end up in the same position I’m in now.

I don’t know why I thought about the US Navy, but I’m glad I did. At first it was about what the Navy can do for me, about what opportunities will be available. What kind of life will I be able to provide my family? Once I qualified for the Navy Nuclear power program, I was sold. What could be more exciting than working on an Air Craft Carrier or a Submarine’s nuclear reactor? After talking with my wife I decided to go for it, and joined the United States Navy.

It was a very selfish decision at first. It was about being able to say that I work on a nuclear reactor, about being proud of the challenging nature of a job, about giving my family a better life, not about defending my country or giving the citizens of my country a better life. It wasn’t until everybody asked me why I did it, why I would give up my house, my career, my family, that I realized that it’s more than those selfish reasons, it’s about doing my duty for my country. A country that gives me an opportunity to make something of myself, a country that gives me the freedom of speech and religion, a country that gives me life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, a country that is the best in the world.

How You Doin'?

Hey wazz up!! How in the heck have you guys been? I have been very busy as you can probably tell. Work is going really good for me, I like my job a lot! Although at times it can be stressfull, I am doing my best. Tony is doing really good, he says "HI"! He is not waking us up in the middle of the night anymore...WooHoo! Besides that, yesterday I was kind-of upset because I stared to think of all the thigs we are going to miss and have missed already(birthdays, just seeing all of you, etc.) So I'm going to make this short and sweet(kind-of like me-ha ha) Mike(my Bro.) Happy belated 15th b-day...I love you man! Susie(gorgeous-'inside jk') Happy 18th B-day to my younger sister...I can't call you my "little sister" anymore, cause well...you are growing up and you will soon be in college, I wish you the best of luck and just know that I'm proud of the young adult that you have become...I Love You Sues' and I miss ya! As for the rest of our family and friends back home...we miss and love all of you and just remember that we are always thinking about you guys and wish you well....and don't forget that all you guys are encouraged to come and visit anytime....just try to refrain from all coming at once....that would just be crazy!

Good Night All.

Sorry it's been so long since I have posted probably almost a week, I've just kinda been stressed out with school and stuff. For like the last three weeks I'd have to wear one uniform to school and bring another and change at lunch, and I know that doesn't sound like a big deal, but it really was a pain in my butt. I also couldn't eat in the class room, and for the last week we had to march in as a class, I guess I kinda let it get to me a little, I felt I should be concentrating on school and not this stupid bs stuff, but this is the Navy, and even in times like this I have to remember to play the game, which I did, well any Monday was the last day for all that bad stuff, so my class is back to normal, which is good and hopefully I can get in my routine again. As for my weekend, basically all we had to do as a class was clean two classrooms really good and that was the extent of our punishment, well and having to march in to class for a week.

Today I had another test, well I'm not really pleased with the results 3.18/4.0 but it was good enough to keep me at 5/21 in the class and on my 10-0, which are so important. I can't help but think all of the marching and not being in a routine kinda contributed to me not scoring as high as I have in the past. I have another big test a week from Thursday, that I plan on doing really well on, I believe it is one of the easier tests I'll have. I just have to remember that I am half way through A-school and on March 31 I'll be a Petty Officer (basically a promotion and raise) if all goes according to plan.

On a side note I found out last week that most likely I'll be on T-Trac for a while waiting on my Security Clearance, which is kinda good but kinda bad. The good part is that all this time waiting I should have a normal 9-5 job most of the time, I'll be able to spend more time with Lisa, and most importantly I'm not at sea. The bad part is I have to stress about not getting my security clearance, which everyone says not to do, but when some people get their clearance at boot camp and I have to wait upwards to a year, it kinda makes you nervous, no security clearance = job I didn't want. I've heard rumors that me being 25, married, owning a house, and coming from a big city with a common last name all contribute to having to wait longer because it is more difficult for the back ground check than for some 18 kid with no very little "history", but then I've also been told none of that stuff matters, so who knows. I'm just hoping that I sell the house soon, get put on T-Trac (which is normal for most people, even if they have their clearance but just for a couples weeks to a couple of months, then they start the next phase in schooling) for about 7 - 9 months, get my clearance and continue on with my Naval career. Well that was a long enough rant for tonight, I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow, starting at probably about 0430.

Oh I almost forgot today playing dodge ball I threw the ball as hard as I could and hit some poor girl in the head on accident... but more on that tomorrow.

Hey....Sup?

Hey guys..Sup? I've been doing' pretty good:). Work is going really well for me. I like learning new skills and just different information that I didn't know of before. Some people are so funny though, they will bring in their cat or dog because it sneezed or coughed or their eyes are watery or whatever! I'm just so used to working with children that it is funny to me when people treat their animals like their first born son or something. Some clientele that we have, well they are just nuts! This one particular lady used to breed all kinds of dogs, I'm talkin' like 40+ dogs that she had in her home...well anyway, she still has all these dogs in her house even though she doesn't breed anymore! We have everyone's animals in files, and let me tell you....this lady's files are so thick that we have to hold them all together with rubber bands. Now that I think about it...there is one more lady that is like that. These people spend a fortune on their pets, it's just crazy, I mean I love Tony and he is just soo cute but I'm not spending a ton of money on him! As much as I want a puppy or dog, they are just too expensive. Having all the proper vaccinations and things like that is expensive enough without having to pay for it when it gets sick or hurt or something. Working at a veterinary clinic sometimes makes me think twice about wanting a puppy or dog! Well I think this is goodbye, I'm tired and still need to eat dinner. nighty-night!Luv, Lisa
