Happy Friday

Good afternoon,

Well in approximately 1 1/2 hours I will no longer be a Fireman in the US Navy, I will be a Machinist's Mate Third Class Petty Officer. I'm excited, but also kind of sad. There is a chance that this will be one of the last times I get to be with my ship mates in an official capacity, so it is kinda bitter sweet. As much as I dislike some of them it's a tolerable dislike, I think I may even miss most of them. So guys if you find this blog and are reading this, I'll miss you. Then after graduation Lisa and I will be going to Georgia for the weekend, I'll post pictures and a report Sunday. Oh we also had a Graduation dinner last night at the Olive Garden, which turned out swimmingly. Everyone had a good time, and I will post pictures from that as well on Sunday.

Well gotta run.

Afternoon

Hi all,

Well today was OK. The counseling thing was somewhat good. I think it would have been better if there were less people and if those people wanted to be there. Some of the people took no part what so ever in the discussion, while others were being disruptive. But for the most part it was productive.

We talked about things like alcohol drugs, tobacco, as well as all other areas of personal health. I am in a group of three and we will be giving a presentation on nutrition I think on Friday, so that should be fun.

Well Lisa and I are off to go grocery shopping, so I will talk to you later.

Wednesday 29 March 2006

Hello all,

First I would like to apologize for not keeping this site updated in the last couple weeks or so. I've been really stressed out about school and not home a lot. Well as of yesterday 0918 I am official done with A school. I finished 6th / 20 overall (that's right we lost one shipmate to the fleet, his total lack of effort got him kicked out the program and sent to the fleet without a job and 2 pay grade demotions). I finished with a respectable 3.39 / 4.0. Here is what is on tap for the rest of this week: Today starting at 0645 is prevent, I'm not exactly sure what that is but my basic understanding is that it is 2 1/2 days of group counseling about drugs, money, feelings, etc. For the most part the feeling towards prevent is negative, I on the other hand am going into it with an open mind and I hope to get something out of it. Prevent will be all day today, all day tomorrow (starting after a 0600 uniform inspection), and half the day Friday. Friday is graduation day, and I will be frocked (I think I spelled that right) a Third Class Petty Officer. Basically I can wear the MM3 (Machinist's Mate Third Class Petty Officer) insignia, have all the responsibilities of a MM3, with the pay of a Fireman for about two weeks. Then right after graduation Lisa and I are driving down to Saint Simon's Island, Ga for a Marriage Enrichment Retreat courtesy of all you fine tax payers out there. That's right for Lisa and I it is totally free, free hotel, free meals, the only thing we pay for is gas. We are both looking forward to this weekend. The topic of the weekend is "Knowing your role".

Anyway I still don't have my security clearance, so that means I should at least have 3 months of stress free days standing watch asking people if they have any electronic devices and to please scan again (their access badge to the Rickover Center or School Building) because that is about all the watch says for 8 hours. I plan on working extremely hard at watch and will do my best to get a different job as soon as possible. Watch is rotating shift work, which sucks if you only have one car and are married and live "off campus" so to speak.

Lisa and I are both excited my Mom and Ken should be stopping down for a day or two next month, and Lisa's parents are going to try and make it this summer along with her siblings. I think my Dad and Tonya are also gonna try and make it sometime soon, we will see. Again the invitation is always open to all family and friends to come down and stay with us. Well I have to finish getting ready for prevent. So I'll update later, maybe even tonight and let you know how my day was.

Hey....Sup?

hey guys, how are ya? I have been doing pretty good...no complaints really. Work is keeping me busy. I am really staring to get the hang of things and learning about all our products and stuff. Tony is doing really good, although I might take him in to get his nails trimmed, he might not like it though! Jason is almost done with A school, then he will be given busy work until he gets his clearance, after that he will be classed up for the other part of school. I'm so excited about going back home! Sometimes it is hard talking to family on the phone after not seeing them since X-mas. I talked to my Dad last week and all he had to say was "I miss you" and I was almost in tears. At times it is hard but I'm getting used to it. As long as we all keep in contact and visit we will be fine. I do like the fact that Jason and I get to kind-of "see the world". Who knows we might live in Hawaii one day, that would be really cool! Not to mention, the more different places we live the more you guys can come visit and have places to go for vacation! Besides all that....we miss all of ya...see you soon...hugs and kisses to our families(especially Merisa, Emma,& Sara)! :)! Love, (aunt)Lisa

Hi!

hey everyone, sorry for the lack of update, we've been busy. Well my job is going OK, keepin' me busy:). Jason is almost done with his first part of school, WooHoo! We just bought a plane ticket home for me. I'm going to go see my younger sis graduate from high school! She will be off to college soon after. I'm looking forward to seeing our families, especially our 3 nieces, I'll bet they have gotten so big! Our house is still for sale, it is really getting on my last nerve! This girl I work with, her house has been on the market for like not even 5 days and they already have an offer on it, sometimes life feels so unfair. Oh well, I guess our house will sell eventually. Well guys it was nice chatting, gotta run...Lisa

p.s. I almost forgot, Jason's thanksgiving in March went really well, except for my being aggravated. Jason took the TK out of the oven and proceeded to cut it...on the counter! There was Tk juices spilling onto the floor, needless to say I can't stand a mess like that, so I was frustrated with him for not leaving it in the thingy he cooked it in....what is that thing called...it is not a pan or a pot it is called something else...If anybody knows what I'm talking about, please let me know. So after everything was cleaned up and all of these guys were out of my house I was OK. I didn't mind having his friends over at all, but I would have liked it if there was some other girls there besides me...you can't really talk to a bunch of guys about General Hospital or Oprah or Shopping. All in all the meal was great, Jay did a great job cooking! goodnight everyone, Lisa

03/11/06

Hi. Today Jason and I, along with his classmates and SLPO, went to help at Habitat for Humanity in the ghetto of Charleston. It turns out there were too many volunteers so half of us went home. The people who stayed behind ended up putting up dry wall. The home was built for a single mother and her 3 children, this woman's handicapped sister is going to live with them as well. It kind-of makes you think about what you have....some people aren't so lucky....Oh I almost forgot....ya know how some stores have X-mas in July, well Jason had decided to have Thanksgiving in March. He bought a 16 lbs. turkey and he is currently making Apple and Pumpkin pies. We are going to have like 8 of his friends over tomorrow. Oh what fun! I'll tell you how it goes....later, Lisa

Long Time No Talk!

hey everyone, sorry for the lack of update, we have been busy. On Saturday Jason took me to get my hair cut, it looks so cute! We also went to the mall, we went to a different one than we usually go to though. That submarine Ball I told you about, it is on April 29th so I really need to find a dress, or else I'll have to wear one that I already have(which I DO NOT want to do). Oh Guess what, our little lizard friend(the one that jumped out of the box & scared me) he came back the other day!. He was stuck between the windows in the kitchen, so I told Jason to get it out and put it outside on the grass, I didn't want the the little guy to die in there. Well, as far as Tony goes, he is doing well and still being his crazy little self, I just love that little guy to pieces! Jason is at school studying, he has a major test coming up and needs to do well on it. All in all, things are going well down here in S.C. It was nice chatting, talk to you tomorrow! Lisa
p.s. Tony says "Hi!"
